From the Chief's Desk
Welcome to the East Columbus Independent Fire Department, also known as Columbus Township Fire & Rescue. We are a combination department, meaning we have a paid staff as well as volunteers. The Department covers the unincorporated area of Columbus Township as well as mutual aid agreements with all other Bartholomew County Fire Departments and the city of Columbus.
The Department's emergency services are provided by a group of highly skilled men and women, who pride themselves on quality service to our customers. Our agency’s staff has varying degrees of visibility, emergency service workers that the public are very familiar with, and those who help keep things running behind the scenes. All of the Department’s staff are valued, and comprise the heart and soul of this department.
Columbus Township being established in 1942 has a long history of community involvement; whether it is providing fire protection at the county fair, Columbus marathon, local parades, and/or other various activities. Everyone within Columbus Township Fire & Rescue is committed to improving public safety and to remaining active in our community.
The Columbus Township Trustee, Advisory Board, and members of the East Columbus Independent Fire Department work jointly to provide a safe place to live, work, and play. This is accomplished by providing the highest service possible to our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
As Chief of Columbus Township Fire & Rescue, it is a pleasure to work with dedicated personnel who continually strive to improve their skills and service to the community. I am proud to have the opportunity to lead this organization into the future.
My Mission Statement:
Columbus Township Fire Department will serve our community with love, compassion, and the respect that our residents deserve. With pride we will protect property, and fight to save lives without fear or prejudice. With a humble confidence we will serve those who call upon us. We will prepare for the future, but continue to value and honor the traditions of the past, while never forgetting the ones before us that paved our path. We will, to the best of our ability, pave the path for the ones after us.
If there is ever any way that I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
